End of first week

Well, here I am ... already having been here a whole week.
The Fresher's parties were so GREAT. I have had no trouble cooking for myself in the evenings- it is wierd getting used to cooking for just one person though.
I have a good mix of friends, most of whom are non- medics, but that is because there are 400 of us here, and I havn't had time to get round them all. However I have been roped into joining so many societies and groups by the medic friendsI do have.
My lectures start on Monday at 9 am. I also have seperate lectures and practicals in 'Basic Life Support Skills'- some of which go on to 10pm. I do look forward to getting stuck into it- I'll let you know how it goes!

First Post

Hello!
My name is Duncan and I am a first year at Birmingham.
I moved into halls on Saturday and am at the begining of Fresher's week. So far I have met so many people I am having trouble remebering my own name- but everyone is friendly and ready to meet new people.
When I first got here I made friends with my flat mates quite quickly, aided with a freashly baked cake! We then explored our block of flats to see who else was around and soon got to know a flat of girls above us... It is quite odd really, as everyone is in the same boat (except for the ones who cheated and came with girl/boyfriends, or old college mates) So I expected it to be really easy to mingle and not stick to one group. However the people we met within the first couple of hours seem to be the one that we do the most with- and the same for everyone else!
I registered yesterday which was a bit of a wait, but as we got there nice and early we didn't have to wait half as long as other people did. I was the first one around to get my computer registered and online- so it became a very useful social tool- as everyone wanted to register their pc/ laptop or hust check their emails from my room!
There is so much on in the evenings, I have trouble deciding which group to go out with; the Medsoc or my halls, club or quizz?
Well I am off, going to the Fresher's fair to get some free goodies! :)
