Whirl-wind!

WOW! I cannot believe that I am into my 4th week of term already. I am so sorry for not having posted sooner- gosh there is so much to tell you (as you may have gathered I have been quite busy!).
Fresher's week was absolutely fantastic! I realise that I am not in fact a fresher any more- but it is still nice to pretend! The main event of the week was definately The Hop- a Medic's Freshers social- starting at the famous Medbar and going onto Oh Velvet on Broad Street, this was absolutley brilliant. There were definately sore heads most mornings of that week, and then we started on the following Monday (2nd of Oct) This was 3 introductory lectures and then 3 hours of hardcore endocrinology- and since then it has been sink or swim in the deep end!!!We have Firm 1 again this year but on a Tuesday instead of a Thursday and we also have a Family Attatchment to worry about too. The first two weeks of term was hectic, to say the least (!), with several double sessions of anatomy to prepare for, a couple of presentations, and then there were 3 problem based learning sessions to do as well. All a little overwhelming, but at least now it has settled down a little. There was a huge Medic's social last week called Amnesia (it was a "Carnage" style bar crawl) fancy dress- Drs and Nurses (what a suprise!) And of course this did not fail to meet expectations! Last week the Fratellis came to play at our Guild- I went to see them with a bunch of mates which was absolutely brilliant- they played all of teir songs, including the obvious ones- really well, and then did a couple of cover... absolutely Ace!!!
This weekend I had to go home to a friends 21st Birthday Party, great excuse if ever there was one! (Unfortunately the event was marred by the death of two of our guinea pigs :(... ). Oh I als o went into hospital (as a patient) with a problem with my eye- and have found out that I need a operation on them, but first they are going to stick a load of Botox into one of the muscles- whil I am awake and everything!!! (not looking forward to this at all!) But it is cool to tell all my friends about it.
My house is great. My housmates are really cool- I am having such a better time than last year already (which was good but this is better!). OUr house is really nice, redecorated in the summer so all posh and smart, big garden with lots of squirrels in and stuff and best of all an actual washing machine- no laundrette this year- having to take a sac of pants and socks to the laundrette last year was a pain at best!
What else, what else..... Oh yeah, I am teaching BLS this year (basic life support). We are teaching a group of nurses at the moment, next session will be medics and physios... this is going extremely well, especially the pub bit afterwards!!!
Well I really do have quite a bit of work to do now, so I will be off- But I will defiantely not leave it so long before posting again!!!
Bye for now
D
