Nearly Christmas

Hi Guys... sorry it has been a while.
Since I last posted I have had a few immunology exams- passing all of them so far. I also found out that I got my first choice for my Special Study Module (SSM1) which is Temperature Regulation... I know the title of the module is far from exciting but it is with the excellent Proffesor Marshal- she tought us Cardiovascular physiology last year and this is a sort of extension of that, it is also one of the very few modules that allow you to gain some experience of surgery in the 2nd year so I am very excited about it! I have also been to the German market several times and had loads of sausages... I love sausages- oh and beer, that is great too!!!
On wednesday I had a BLS (Basic Life Support- I teach it this year) social... it is sort of part of our payment- we get a whole evening of free food and drink... basically I took that as a challenge and went toooooooooo far- nearley ended up in hospital but lets just not go there- htere are a lot of funny photos of things that went on that I have absolutely no recolection of!
Ummm... what else- Well this is the penultimate week- we break up next Friday so everyone is getting tired and stressed, not least bof all because we have 4 exams next week- one on immunology, two on DRE (digestive, Renal and Endocrine physiology) and one on Regional Anatomy... I really haven't done enough work for them yet but will try to make up for it over the weekend!
Oh I forgot to mention that I had my Family attachment (first meeting) on WEdnesday. I have been waiting ages but finally got it. I went to a GP surgery in Kings Heath, I then spent the afternoon with the family I have been allocated- just interviewing and asking tons of questions and listening. To be honest none of us really know what we are doing or what to ask them so it feels odd- but it is cool to get "patient contact"- obviously not patients of ours, but it is really cool experience. Unfortunatley I will have to somehow produce a project from this and write it up in a huge essay, which I am not happy about!
On the lines of patient contact I had to take a consultation from someone whoe was a little odd and something was definately not right- it turned out that this individual was very schizophrenic (it is ok for me to tell you this, I am not breaking confidentiality- and it wasn't an acutal patient it was an actor- my "Complex Consultation Skills" were being assessed) It was really cool, I didn't have a clue what I was doing as quite obviously haven't had any experience, but I did supprisingly well.
Ok well I am off to watch ER with my housemate- extremely important revision!!!
Bye for now!
D
