Apologies

I am sorry for not having posted in such a long time. Things have been ever so slightly hectic, what with basic life support skill lectures until 9.30 most nights and all of these essays I have to do.
Term seems to be dragging it's heels a bit at the moment. Everyone else has had a reading week (basically it's a half term holiday)... but I guess that is what you get when you do a course that is not as intense as medicine. Lectures are ok, nothing really exciting to mention about them really- things are starting to come together nicely and make a bit more sense. I think that with the exams fast aproaching that everyone is ready for a nice break! I ceratinly am.... but that is reflected in lectures, when everyone (well not quite everyone!) seems to be talking, which is so disrespectful to the lecturer and it makes it quite hard to concentrate. But never ind, that is what books are for I suppose!
This weekend has been a little strange. I went and did my grocery shopping and then went out with a few friends. Then on Sunday there was a huge match against Nottingham, it was a fantastic game, and a close one too- but in the end Nottingham won, so hats off to them. Then shortly after that match there was another against my halls- who didn't have enough players so I went on their team- and got severely fined for it in the pub afterwards! We had an anatomy small group at ten this morning- so it meant that I got a very much apreciated extra hour in bed this mornig!
As far as I know, my housing arrangements for next year are sorted out. I shall be living in a house with a couple of my very good friends (who read these bloggs- so I had better be nice!)- hi Andy!
There is a hucg party tomorrow night at a great night club for a half way celebration (it's not to celebrate us being half way- as we quite clearly are not!) but we are joining in with the 3rd Years'.
Ummmmmmmmmm, what else- oh, Firm 1 on thursday (our antipenultimate one!) We have ot do another presentation for it- a PBL on abodo pain this time.
Any way, I better go and do some work now.... but definately time to eat first though!
Bye for now.

A better week!

Well, so far so good. A much better week all round. Although I haven't touched either of my essays, the presentation went well; I got a B in an exam we did before christmas and the new respiratory module is looking ok (for now anyway).
We had Firm 1 today, which was allright, I think the novalty has worn off a little, I still enjoy it but as you can imagine it is not as exciting, although we do get to play with all sorts of interesting toys, today it was a simple spirometer (measures lung function), as this session was focusing on "Doctor - patient communication, and the Respiratory System". I was especially pleased when my functions came back 138% of my target... so that basically means that I have a really good pair of lungs. Not much elses to say regarding the curricular aspect... I had a Hep B blood test on Tuesday, should get the results for that soon, and then I will be able to take blood and all sorts again (if it comes back as a positive titre).
Oh I went to a great bar on Tuesday, I have been before (it wasn't to great the first time) - but it just shows, that it is the company that makes the difference, I had a fantastic time with the hockey lot, unfortunately it was Karyoke though, so as you can imagine, some fun was definately had!
Not too sure what I am up to this weekend... I might pop into the city centre and do a bit of shopping, but it will be restricted by tha ammount (or the lack) of monney in my account! (I remember being so smug at Christmas with £58 still in there, but it doesn't feel so great now I am overdrawn). Right I am off to the Pub now.
Bye

Ahhhhhh!!!

Even if Stressed is Desserts backwards.... bloody, just ahhhhhh.
We all seem to be in a bit of a panic about our exam results- due to some stupid rumours and anatomy demonstrators with a squewed sense of humour.... plus the minitest results are still not ready- and our demonstrator said that they didn't go well either. Never mind, I guess only time will tell!
Well, this week is a bit hard, on top of quite an intense one last week- we started at 9am and finished at 6pm every day, and it is similar this week too- but the content is horrible too, with loads of DRE (digestive renal and endocrine) - nowhere near as nice as cardiovascular.... we have also started respiratory- which is near impossible, we have been given the handouts, and it's just as well, because the professor gets on stage, motors on at about a million miles an hour about this curve and that, and it's soon over before you even wrote and underlined the date! I am sure we will all grasp it eventually (either that or this batch of Dr's are not going to be too great at respiratory medicine!).
It was, however, really nice to be home at the weekend. having had enough with the battle against the filth of my flatmates and certainly enough anatomy and DRE I just went home and did nothing productive the whole time. I took my two lovely dogs on a couple of walks, helped paint the hallway (a little) and drank wine (hmmm, a little?). So I should be greatful really- and I am. Plus we have Firm 1 this week- which should prove a light release from the normal lectures.
Still no hockey, as I was stupid enough to injure my foot a few weeks ago and it is slow to recover, but I shall go to the pub for the post-training drinking though. Oh that reminds me- I have just paid a painful £100 deposit for the summer hockey trip to Spain (TONNES of FUN!) but I will have to be careful this month. Which is a shame because there is a trip to Edinburgh this weekend, which sounds really good...
What else...... ummmm not too sure really, I got another book through, by one of the professors here actually- Renal Physiology, looks interesting (who am I kidding), something to look forward to though.
Well I ought to wash up after my tea now, bye!
